Frequently asked questions
What material should I choose?
- Real teak offers a traditional premium appearance, natural texture and timeless nautical aesthetics. It can be sanded and restored over time, but requires more care and may show wear faster in high-traffic areas.
- Synthetic systems offer high durability, modern consistency and lower visible wear over time. They are more practical for everyday use and easier to maintain, although they do not provide the same natural premium appearance and texture as real teak.
Will the synthetic systems look like real teak?
Synthetic systems are designed to reproduce the appearance and layout of traditional teak decks while offering a more practical and durable solution. However, they do not fully replicate the natural texture and visual depth of real teak.
Will it fit my boat correctly?
Navira products are developed for specific production boat models. Each boat is digitally captured using 3D scanning, designed in CAD and manufactured using CNC machining to ensure repeatability, precision and accurate onboard fit.
How are the panels delivered to the boat?
Navira systems are supplied as prefabricated CNC-manufactured panels ready for onboard installation. Both real teak and synthetic systems are delivered preassembled to reduce onboard work and improve installation consistency.
On larger surfaces, panels may be strategically divided to simplify transport and installation. Whenever possible, these divisions are integrated using drainage breaks designed to remain visually clean and aesthetically balanced. In situations where this is not possible, panels may include installation joints that are later sealed onboard during the final installation process.
Can I install it myself?
The removal of the old deck can be carried out onboard by a non-experienced owner using basic tools such as a hammer, chisel and, where possible, a handheld router. However, it is a time-consuming and physically demanding process.
The Installation is not excessively complex because the panels are CNC-manufactured to fit the boat precisely, although it requires more care and accuracy than the removal process. Adhesive is applied using a notched trowel, the panels are positioned and aligned leaving a consistent perimeter gap for the final caulking process, and weight is placed on top of the panels during curing. Simple weights such as water containers can often be used.
Unsupported polyurethane systems may require a higher level of installation care to ensure that no air bubbles remain trapped beneath the surface during bonding.
Do I need professional installation?
Smaller projects can often be installed by experienced owners, while larger or more complex installations may benefit from professional assistance depending on the boat and system selected.
What if my boat model is not listed?

Why choose a prefabricated system?
In any deck replacement project, regardless of the material used, the most difficult part is usually finding skilled labour with the necessary know-how, access to marine-grade materials and the machinery required to manufacture precise deck panels. Navira’s prefabricated approach removes much of this complexity from the process by supplying CNC-manufactured panels ready for installation, helping reduce project costs and leaving only the more manageable onboard stages such as deck removal and installation.
What quality are the materials used?
Navira products are developed in collaboration with Karinthia QW, a company specialized in teak decks and exterior yacht carpentry for superyachts. This allows Navira to benefit from professional marine-grade materials, advanced manufacturing processes and technical know-how developed within the high-end yacht industry. All materials used by Navira are professional marine-grade products also used onboard superyachts.
